Cage was the first album officially released by by John Sherwood (as 4m33s). It was released on the Dutch label Wide Area Network Records (WAN Records). Here it is now re-issued on Ambientlive, and not just reprinted, because the tracks have been revisited and cleaned up, removing some annoying clicks etc from the original, and balancing the volume levels a bit better. This 74 minute live recording documents an entirely improvised concert in Denver CO, on Saturday July 26, 2003, with an intimate audience who came prepared for anything. James Edward Pryor was born in Lambert, Mississippi and developed a Delta blues style influenced by both Sonny Boy Williamson I and Sonny Boy Williamson II. He moved to Chicago around 1940. While serving in the U.S. Army he would blow bugle calls through the powerful PA system, which led him to experiment with playing the harmonica that way. Upon discharge from the Army in 1945, he obtained his own amplifier, and began playing harmonica at the outdoor Maxwell Street market, becoming a regular in the Chicago blues scene.
