The music on this ambient album is inspired by those large radio telescopes, that patiently search the universe for signs. Signs that could mean something. Signs that might contain a message, coming from an intelligent life form, far away, maybe sent ages ago. - Music without sequencers -.

"The concept of this album is about an adventurous man, constantly searching for new challenges to satisfy his need to explore the unknown.

One day, he enters an immense swamp, knowing that no one before him ever returned from it.

The swamp is full of danger, unexpected and treacherous.

At the end of the day our man realized that he is lost, not being able to find his way out.

He tries to survive, learning to live with what the swamp offers him. It is a long agony, but he manages to find a way.

Getting used to his new life, alone in this desolate...

On June 21st 2008 Gert and Ruud visited the Kröller Müller museum in the National Park Hoge Veluwe in the Netherland. Somewhat hidden in the forrest, one of the parts of this museum is a large sculpture garden. They were so impressed by the different sculptures and other forms of art that they decided to do an entire album inspired on the subject.

If you like sequences, more sequences and
still more sequences placed in a Berlin
School setting read on! No messing about
here, we get straight into the ball
breaking title track. Windy, ventilation
shaft type effects remain in isolation
for less than thirty seconds before the
first sequence surges forward- and a
lovely rapid one it is too full of power
and excitement. The backing now consists
of ethereal pads and twittering effects.
Another sequence starts up. A really nice
atmospheric lead weaves this way and that
over the top.

Next up is the massive forty-four minute
'A Journey Through Time'. It is split
up into six parts however so to make it
easier to...

In just two albums Gert and Ruud
established themselves as one of the
most important Berlin School inspired acts
currently around. Ruud really is the king
of the sequencer. I have always thought of
him as a cross between Chris Franks and
Redshift style Mark Shreeve. Gert also
knows how to handle sequences but he is
more of a melody man who I think of
as the Dutch equivalent to early John
Dyson. The title track gets the album off
to an excellent start. Wonderful deep
bubbling alien sounds provide a short
introduction before a brace of very
rapid sequences...

Ruud is better known for his valuable
contributions to two of the main retro /
sequencer driven bands around, Free System
Project and Kubusschnitt. Gert has a
number of solo albums available in similar
territory. Here they combine to produce
another excellent Berlin School tour de
force. We begin 'Vortex' with wonderful
deep space drones rising and falling like
solar flares exploding into the ether only
to be dragged back to the star from whence
they came. Amongst them we get a
collection of lovely analogue sounding
cosmic twitters and effects as well as
sparing use of distorted unintelligible
voices...

Both Gert and Ruud knew each others musical
outings since when they were members of Alfa
Centauri, and both liked what the other was
doing. Ruud for instance, was very impressed
by the Gert Emmens track The Sign of the
Sentinel that was released on a sampler CD,
called “Movements”. Gert, on his turn,
liked what Ruud was doing with Patchwork and
Free System Projekt. And after sending each
other some e-mails, they both decided to do a
session together. This resulted in the basic
tracks for their first collaboration “Return
To The Origin”, released in 2004. Since then,
other album followed, of which Blind Watchers
Of A Vanishing Night is now available as
download through MusicZeit. The music of Gert
Emmens & Ruud Heij is a combination between
old school sequencing and melodic and
symphonic music, which results in quite a
unique style of past and present Electronic
Music.
