Frank Specht - Sebastian im Traum 8 tracks Running time: 1:09:54 Released: 04/2008 |
SynGate CD-R 2083 - originally released in 2000 - Frank Specht is one half of the awesome Rainbow Serpent. Here we have his solo album and as with Gerd Wienekamp’s (the other half of Rainbow Serpent) album 'Der Laborant - Kontakt' what we get is a mixture of very recognisable Serpent characteristics as well as a different angle identifying the individuality of each member. This is something of a concept album following the passage of a series of dreams. Cosmic shimmers act as a gentle introduction to ‘Traum 1’ but then a great whoosh of sound descends on us like a tidal wave.... more info

Voices Of The First Day 9 tracks Running time: 1:02:55 Released: 12/2001 |
Manikin MRCD 7059 This music was composed after they were asked to play Jodrell Bank. It is inspired by the place. Being amateur astronomers they know it well. It was given its first performance at the gig but it must be emphasised that this is a studio album, not a live one. It was recorded long before their JB performance. Its an album of great maturity taking fans on a journey through new realms as well as staying true to their roots. The production is first rate giving the album a smooth almost 'slick' feel. Waves of sound emanate from the... more info |

Pulse 7 tracks Running time: 1:18:14 Released: 12/2000 |
Manikin MRCD 7044 Rainbow Serpent have been rather prolific of late but have still managed to keep up the quality. In fact if anything they go from strength to strength developing their style which takes Berlin School influences (particularly Klaus Schulze) making full use of modern production techniques but at the same time infusing them with a most definite 'feel' all of their own. Ominous cosmic atmospherics chatter from the speakers as 'Pulse Trancemission' sets the scene for the journey to come. Appropriately a pulse beats out over ethereal pads. At seven minutes a strong sequence attracts the attention and develops... more info |

Der Laborant - Kontakt 6 tracks Running time: 1:13:04 Released: 05/1998 |
Manikin/SynGate RSCD 1998 Der Laborant is Gerd Wienekamp who is one half of the superb Rainbow Serpent. If you are into that band this CD will be an absolute delight. The closest comparison would be their album 'Voyager' but he certainly has put his own individual stamp to the music. 'Excelsis Dei' begins as if you are walking down a long corridor in some futuristic space ship, cosmic shimmers and electric beeps on the edge of hearing surround you. Then deep synth pads flesh out the sound and a feeling of openness prevails. A solo Gregorian chant makes a brief appearance... more info

Mosaique 9 tracks Running time: 1:13:24 Released: 11/1997 |
Manikin/SynGate RSCD 1997 The first two albums by Rainbow Serpent 'Futuregate' and 'Voyager' were stylistically very different from each other but both just screamed class. With 'Mosaique' we have yet another approach but again the quality in composition, production, in fact everything is of the highest order possible. We kick off with 'Silence', damned silly name for a piece of music but I see what they are getting at as it brings to mind a subterranean futuristic city late at night, just you on your own - or are you? By the atmosphere that is being created I doubt it! This... more info

Futuregate 9 tracks Running time: 1:09:55 Released: 04/1995 |
Manikin/SynGate RSCD 1995 The duo of Frank Specht and Gerd Wienekamp are behind Rainbow Serpent. The 3 part title track occupies the first 32 minutes. Part 1 combines impressive spacey passages with bouncey sequences, and part 2 repeats the formula with the sequences being almost a modern interpretation of Encore. Part 3 is a brilliantly sequenced offering which includes samples reminiscent of Michael Shipway. From Shipway we encounter music in the same class as Glyn Lloyd Jones with the next track Ancient Skies. This really is a stunning piece with sumptuous sequencing and sublime melodics. And the quality music doesn't end... more info
