Originally released in a very limited run of 50 LPs in 1982 and created as the soundtrack to a pioneering piece of experimental video, Emerging Video, which aired on the USA cable channel. These tracks contain 11 amazing forays into early electronica. Recorded before the term ambient became a household word. Some tracks are slightly rhythmic, some are experimental but all feature Richard Bone's unmistakable sense of melody.

These 7 pieces were originally created as backing tracks for various collaborations between 1997 and 2006 that, for one reason or another, never came to fruition. Having all but forgotten what I had recorded, I recently came across the masters and decided to give them a listen. To my surprise they seemed to have a life of their own. Where I expected to find arid, empty passages I found ambient oases brimming with imaginary instruments. Sparse perhaps but proving, once again, that less can often be more. I hope you enjoy them.

RICHARD BONE (born February 3, 1952 - Atlanta, GA) has been creating music since his early teens. He began his professional musical career creating soundtracks and scores for several off-Broadway companies working in experimental theater. In 1979 he released with his band Bone the single Pirate the Islands/Headlines Have It before joining the legendary new-wave band Shox Lumania in 1981. That same year Richard recorded a solo 7" called Digital Days/Alien Girl on his own that was picked up by the UK based label Survival Records. While with Survival he released two LPs, four EPs, two 45s and composed several singles for various compilations albums. In 1983 his single Joy of Radiation reached #1 on the Hong Kong music charts.

Richard started Quirkworks Laboratory Discs in 1991 allowing him the freedom to create music of a more experimental nature and remain in control of his musical direction. The next sixteen years would see Richard release twenty-one recordings of new material, three CDs of previously unreleased tracks, two collaborations and a collection of previously unreleased backing ambient tracks created for collaborations, a compilation of previous Quirkworks' releases as well as contributing to several multi-artist compilations and various other projects. Of the new material recordings, three quickly rose to the #1 placement on industry charts as well as receiving numerous other honors. In 2004 Richard's recording The Reality Temples was nominated for the NAR Lifestyle Music Awards Best Electronic Album and his 2005 recording Saiyuji was nominated for the NAR Lifestyle Music Awards Best Ambient Album.

Upcoming projects include a DVD and audio CD project entitled Short Waves - Brief Excursions in Surreal Video and a possible in-depth biographical book devoted to Richard's life and musical career compiled by a British author.
