Arclight once again sees DiN label boss Ian Boddy teaming up with Moogmeister Mark Shreeve as the duo ARC. Recorded live in concert at the Capstone Theatre, Liverpool on 15th November 2014, this is the sixth live album by ARC. The performance features four tracks from the duo’s previous live CD album Umbra (DiN45) alongside forty minutes of new material spread over the remaining three pieces. With almost 90 minutes of music the decision was taken to release this as a download only release on the DiNDDL sub label so as to preserve the entire performance. This follows on from...

ARC are Ian Boddy (also DiN label boss) and Mark Shreeve, two veterans of the UK electronic music scene. Their music is deeply routed in the traditions of the German synthesizer music of the 1970's and as such they employ a vast range of vintage analogue equipment not the least of which is Shreeve's massive Moog IIIC modular system.

Umbra (DiN45) is a recording from their headline performance at the E-Live festival in Oirschot, the Netherlands on 19th October 2013. The duo played for 90 minutes and the set was recorded to multi-track to allow Shreeve to edit and mix the...

In November 2009 Ian Boddy & Mark Shreeve journeyed to the USA to play at The Gatherings Concert Series, St.Mary’s Church, Philadelphia. This was Boddy’s fifth appearence in Philadelphia but was the first time he had travelled with long time musical collaborator Mark Shreeve who was playing in the States for the first time. The Gatherings are organised by Chuck van Zyl who is also the host for the Star’s End radio show broadcast every Sunday morning from 1am - 6am on WXPN. Following their very well received performance on the Saturday evening at The Gatherings the duo moved...

Ian Boddy & Mark Shreeve have been at the centre of the UK Electronic Music scene since the late seventies and have known each other since they both appeared at the very first UK Electronica festival in 1983. They've both enjoyed considerable success in releasing a succession of solo albums. However it wasn't until 1998 that they first collaborated under the ARC banner for their first CD release, "Octane". Then in 1999 Boddy set up the ambient electronica label DiN that has achieved considerable success in releasing CD's by artists such as Robert Rich, Tetsu Inoue, Markus Reuter, Chris Carter,...

Ian Boddy & Mark Shreeve once again combine forces for their fourth outing as the duo ARC. As with their first release on the DiN label, Radio Sputnik ( DiN 7 ), Arcturus is a recording from one of their rare live performances. Indeed their appearance at the Hampshire Jam III festival in October 2004 was only their second venture onto stage performing together as ARC. This festival held in Liphook, Hampshire has a cult following amongst fans of “Berlin school” style electronic music and always attracts a very enthusiastic audience. In these days of laptops & virtual synths it’s...

More Info

ARC are Ian Boddy and Mark Shreeve who have previously released Octane on Boddy's Something Else Record label. Mark Shreeve has recently been involved with his Redshift project that due to the use of his original Moog IIIC modular system has been recreating the vibe and feel of early 70's space music pioneers such as Tangerine Dream. However in ARC, whilst the Big Moog is still ever present Boddy's influence can be heard in shifting the music sideways with a more ambient feel.

See also ARC on Something Else Records for their first album Octane.
